Some of these flights are seasonal [summer/winter only]. Often a lot cheaper than full-fare airlines, but not when part of a long-haul flight. Reasonable seating and leg-room. Experimenting with designated seating in 2012.

Website and books. The Greenwood Guide to South Africa has 'hand-picked accommodation' run by 'people for whom looking after others . . .  is a natural pleasure'. Mainly guest-houses and self-catering accommodation throughout SA that subscribe to this criteria — not always the cheapest, but well worth investigating. Also publishes a guide to New Zealand.

Very seductive website offering reduced price offers to locations around the world. Accommodation only — flight suggestions but no booking option. Untried by yours truly as yet.

Website and books. Lots of recommendations for 'special places' small hotels in Europe and Morrocco and pubs in the UK too. Some specialist recommends including dog-friendly breaks and places with/near gardens, although sometimes a bit too eco-friendly for us.
